There’s something magical about eating outdoors – the gentle clink of glasses, the warmth of golden-hour light, and the hum of summer all around you. Whether you're hosting a laid-back lunch or a relaxed dinner party, a beautifully styled garden table sets the scene.
Here’s how to create a gorgeous alfresco setup using a few simple, thoughtful touches – starting with your tablecloth.
1. Lay the Foundation with a Tablecloth
A garden tablecloth is more than just practical – it’s the stage for everything else. Choose a cloth that suits the season and your style. Our Eucalyptus Meadow design brings soft greens and natural texture to the table, perfect for sunny lunches or late afternoon feasts.
All of our tablecloths come with a central parasol hole (because no one likes squinting at salad) and are available in custom sizes, so whatever your table shape or setting, you’ll have the perfect fit.
2. Bring the Outdoors to the Table
Lean into natural beauty by adding flowers and greenery. Wildflowers in jam jars, eucalyptus branches in ceramic jugs, or even potted herbs in terracotta pots can make wonderful centrepieces – and they don’t need to be perfect. In fact, a little messiness adds to the charm.
3. Mix, Match & Layer
There’s no need for perfectly coordinated dinnerware. Mix rustic ceramics with vintage glassware, or bring out your favourite mugs and bowls. Add linen or cotton napkins tied with a sprig of rosemary or lavender – simple and lovely.
4. Light the Evening Gently
If your gathering goes past sunset (and we hope it does), soft lighting is your best friend. Think solar lanterns hanging from trees, candles in hurricane jars, or fairy lights wound around a parasol pole.
Warm light makes everything feel more magical – even if you’re just serving bowls of pasta and pouring rosé from a screw-top bottle.
5. Keep the Food Simple (and Pretty)
You don’t need a three-course meal to wow your guests. Lay out a beautiful grazing board with cheeses, fruits, and crusty bread. A big green salad with edible flowers, or jugs of lemonade with floating slices of citrus, always looks impressive with minimal effort.
Bonus points if your food matches your tablecloth – but no pressure!
6. Enjoy the Imperfection
Outdoor entertaining isn’t about perfection – it’s about enjoying the moment. A slight breeze, a wobbly table leg, or a curious bee is all part of the charm. Let your tablecloth flutter, your napkins mismatch a little, and enjoy every second.
